We travelled to Rarotonga recently as part of our work with Jetstar (our Jetstar review will be added shortly), and were lucky enough to stay at Nautilus Resort in Muri Beach. Before I continue I would just like to say a huge thank you to Jane, Paul and the fabulous team at both Nautilus and Muri Beach resort, our stay was beyond amazing and we cannot fault the service we received!
We stayed in a Garden Are’/Villa which included our own private pool & deck. The bedding in this room included a large King Size bed (which had an amazing canopy!!), a single bed and a cot (additional). It was incredibly spacious – Kruize was able to play with his cars and we could spread out our luggage, without feeling like we have no room to walk, which was awesome! Ava was stoked to see the large freestanding bathtub in the bathroom – which I think he managed to have a 5 minute soak in before being interrupted by the kids lol. The courtyard also had a gate which provided quick access for us to the main pool.
Having the private pool in our courtyard was really handy – we have never had this during our travels before. Whilst we really had to be on the ball the whole time (child safety), it was nice to be able to have the kids contained whilst we all swam & hopped in / out of the pool – as kids do multiple times!!
Honestly, not a detail was spared when these rooms were put together – from the gorgeous bath robes, to the iron/ironing board, toiletries, kettle, toaster, umbrellas, blue tooth speakers, unlimited Wifi. Everything you could possibly want and need for a stress free stay.
Grounds & Facilities
Both Nautilus and Muri Beach resort are situated right on the beach / lagoon, and comprise of beautiful lush tropical gardens which include many fruit trees and roaming chickens. Anyone with kids knows, beach holidays with kids aren’t always easy – but not having to walk too far from your room to the beach / pool is a must.
Nautilus has the most amazing infinity pool, which of course overlooks the beach. We spent most of our time between the main pool and our villa pool, Kruize especially loved the main pool. Highly recommend ordering some pool side drinks and snacks – the Island fries were to die for! Comprising of Taro, Kumara (Sweet Potato) and Potato – these chips are chunky, yet so crispy and served with a smokey dipping sauce.
Aerial View of Villas – Ours was far right of image.
Our Amazing Driver Margo – who transported us to and from the airport. Kruize absolutely loved his time with her, and would often stop for a chat whenever we would see her. We also have to give a special thanks to Margo, who at 12:30 am drove us to the airport for departure, only for us to discover once we arrived there, that we had left Kruize’s special pillows back in our room. Without hesitation she drove us back to the resort to collect them. THANK YOU Margo. xx
Resident Pup that the kids loved.
Each morning we enjoyed a buffet breakfast at the poolside restaurant (Muri Beach Resort guests are also welcome to come and have breakfast here) – there was a nice selection of fresh fruits, pastries, toast and cereal, which you can eat alongside a set breakfast menu made to order. Generally I ordered the Banana Pancakes and Ava had the Eggs Benny. Both were delicious!! Once again, massive thanks to the wait and kitchen staff for your LARGE amount of patience with Child #1. The cheese toastie orders accompanied by endless demands / melt downs, were bordering on embarrassing, but you all were more than obliging and we REALLY appreciate it!
I speak for our entire family when I say that we would highly recommend Nautilus as a place to stay when travelling to Rarotonga. We could not fault the place! And would even go as far as saying it is up there as one of the best resorts we have stayed in around the world. One thing we absolutely loved was that even though the resort was fully booked out, it was still so quiet and peaceful, we didn’t have to wait for tables, were able to get pool lounges whenever we wanted, and we actually felt like we had the entire place to ourselves! It was magic. I would have loved to have stayed here for our honeymoon, childfree LOL.
