The Sunflower Fields of Cambooya

Posted on

Last week we (I), had this magnificent idea to be *spontaneous* and drive (2.5 hours lol) to the Sunflower Fields of Cambooya, out past Toowoomba. For those of you that aren’t familiar with Brisbane, Toowoomba, and the Southern Downs.. this is a long arsed way away from our home !

Thankfully, it was a day that Kruize was at preschool, which lightened the whinging child in the back ratio in half.

Prior to us leaving home, and up until about 3/4 of the way there, I didn’t actually realise that we had to go through and past Toowoomba to actually reach the fields. Silly me thought it was ‘on the way’.

Anyways, the drive was totally worth it, they are absolutely spectacular to see – hectares and hectares of beautiful blooming Sunflowers (most definitely not to be confused with Needle / Wheat Grass or Corn – my Insta Stories viewers will understand that !).

It was stinking hot, and we did have to crawl under a barb wire fence, so it’s definitely not ‘ideal’ with kids in tow, but it was well worth the visit, even just once.

Here are some images we captured from that day.
