2017 Winter Fashion Staples for Mamas

When you become a mum, it feels as though your needs/wants/sense of self goes completely out the window. Everything becomes about the kids.

Although it is really hard at times to put ourselves first, I definitely think it needs to be a priority. In order to be your best, you want to feel and look your best – and sometimes a fresh overhaul of the wardrobe is just what you need.

I’ve teamed up with Westfield Chermside to bring you a few of my new fave winter staple pieces that are ‘Mum’ suitable. What is mum suitable? Well, for me they must be durable, comfy, not super tight/easy to move in, and and mix and match with other pieces seamlessly.

I have very quickly become obsessed with the seed Heritage store in Chermside. The moment I walked in, I wanted to grab every. single. thing. However, both my bank balance and husband disagreed with that idea. I decided to choose a few staple pieces. My FAVE being these Cropped Harem Pants.

They’re SUPER comfy and being a baggier fit means they are flattering for a variety of shapes and sizes. Perfect to wear with a basic tee (I’ve worn mine with a white tee from target), and for cooler days they work well with a baggy knit. Dress them up with some boots, or for a more casual look (which is basically me everyday) wear some slides or converses’.

Next up on the list from Seed is this blush beauty;

I don’t think I’ve ever had a knit that has been so plush and thick – not to mention the colour is stunning. This knit is on the higher end of the price scale, however for the quality, and longevity that it will provide – I think it is justifiable. I absolutely love the fold up cuffs, I felt so cosy wearing it.

I’m a big fan of grey. In fact, I probably have 50 shades of grey knits in my cupboard. Grey is my ‘go to’ shade as it’s easy to match with almost any colour, but especially well with denim. This grey knit from seed Heritage is a beauty. It’s not too heavy, could work as both a casual piece or for something a little more fancy. It has a hi lo hem line (lower at the back), which looks awesome.

Cotton On has always been a fave on my list of retail stores for both women and kids. I head there when I’m looking for affordable pieces to add to my wardrobe. I have a fair few pairs of their denim shorts, which I wear round the clock in summer. I’ve also collected a variety of their tanks/tees and knit pieces through the years – and most are still going strong today.

When I headed to Westfield Chermside for this shopping trip, I really wanted to find some comfy black jeans, as all the jeans in my wardrobe were blue! And as usual Cotton On delivered the goods!

I also picked up a soft grey pair of pants which have a cropped and frayed ankle;

Two Retro ‘TBAR’ tees;

And this beautiful marle grey cardi;

To top off my winter staples I scored these boots *on sale* at novo. They will also be perfect in Spring & Autumn with some of my flowy floral dresses I have. For me, I always try and make key pieces work across seasons, to not only get my monies worth, but so I have a wider variety of options.

There you have it – my mama friendly winter fashion staples. I hope you enjoyed this little haul, please let me know what you think below! I have also included a list of all the pieces – available at Westfield Chermside now;
